This article analyses the female argumentative discourses in the Legend of King Rodrigo included in the General Chronicle of Spain of 1344 by Pedro Afonso, son of King Dinis of Portugal, taking into account the status of married women and single women in the Middle Ages. It suggests the existence of a strategy installed in the Legend, aimed at leadership pedagogy, which associates success with rationally organised argumentation and failure with argumentation disorganised by emotion. A future analysis of male argumentative speeches could confirm this strategy and help define the profile of the author responsible for translating and adapting the Legend, as well as the goal that guided him.
