The article addresses the professional practice of urban planning in recent years from the perspective of urban planning architects, through the analysis of how new paradigms on the transformation of territories and cities, together with a new governance of planning processes, are causing changes in the professional activity of urban planning: from the organization of work teams, to the complex relationship with the public administration it serves, including the important issue of education in urban planning. A period of change that generates important professional challenges but also offers an opportunity to build a professional model better adapted to the demands of society.
