Sections

Research articles. Original research carried out with quantitative, qualitative or mixed methodology, of an observational or interventional type. Its content will be organized in the following sections: Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Discussion and References. Up to: 6 authors, 30 references, 3,500 words (not including bibliography, abstract or legends/footnotes to tables and figures) and 6 tables and/or figures is recommended; The abstract will be structured with a maximum length of 250 words.

 

Short articles. This section will consider research papers that, due to their special characteristics (series with a small number of observations, research papers with very specific results, descriptive epidemiological studies, extensive series of cases studied with a specific objective whose data have been statistically analyzed, among others) can be published in an abbreviated form. The same rules apply as for original articles, except for a maximum of: 1,800 words, 15 references, 3 tables and/or figures; the abstract will be structured with a maximum length of 150 words.

Case reports. Description of one or more cases providing relevant clinical knowledge to the reader. Its content is organized in Introduction, Clinical Case, Discussion and References. Up to: 4 authors, 1,800 words (excluding bibliography, abstract, legends/footnotes to tables and figures), 15 references, and 3 tables and/or figures is recommended; the abstract will be unstructured with a maximum length of 150 words.

Reviews. Systematic reviews (mainly), with or without meta-analysis, on topics of interest are welcome. Up to: 6 authors, 5,000 words (excluding references, abstract, legends/footnotes to tables and figures), 60 references, 6 tables and/or figures is recommended; the unstructured abstract will have a maximum length of 250 words.

 

Special collaboration. These are manuscripts that do not fit into other sections, such as consensus documents or articles that provide original opinions, always on topics considered relevant by the editorial team. Up to: 6 authors, 2,500 words (not including bibliography, abstract or legends/footnotes to tables and figures), 30 references, and 6 tables and/or figures are recommended; the abstract will be unstructured with a maximum length of 150 words.

Letters to the editor. Comments on articles previously published in Anales del Sistema Sanitario de Navarra are welcome, which will be sent to the author of the related article offering them the right of reply. Letters with unusual observations and opinions on topics of interest to the reader of the magazine are also welcome; these letters will be reviewed by the editorial team and subject to peer review at the editors’ discretion.. Up to: 4 authors, 1,000 words, 10 references and 1 table and/or figure is recommended; abstract is not required.

Editorial. Contribution requested, and evaluated by, the Draft Board on a specific topic of interest and/or in relation to an article from the next issue. Unsolicited editorials will be evaluated by the editorial team and/or subjected to peer review before decide on their acceptance. They are limited up to: 2 authors, 20 references and 1,200 words; abstract not required.
