O efeito da idade relativa dos participantes nas finais mundiais de tênis júnior em 2012–2016

Resumo

O principal objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o impacto da idade relativa (conhecido como efeito da idade relativa, EER; efeito da idade relativa, RAE) em tenistas juniores (U14, n=240) que competiram nas finais mundiais de ténis. 2012 e 2016. Um objetivo secundário foi analisar a EER em relação à nomeação de jogadores nas seleções nacionais, bem como a sua influência nas classificações finais das referidas seleções. O terceiro objetivo foi comparar o EER entre tenistas juniores e os melhores tenistas seniores do mundo. A metodologia incluiu análise de dados por meio de testes qui-quadrado e cálculo do índice de tamanho do efeito (ES) w. Os resultados indicaram que ao longo dos anos examinados (2012–2016), foi observado um EER que, embora não tenha alcançado significância estatística nos subgrupos, apresentou uma faixa variável de tamanho de efeito w, de moderado a alto. No entanto, ao considerar todo o período de cinco anos, confirmou-se a existência de uma TCE estatisticamente significativa, com um tamanho de efeito ES w de magnitude moderada.
Da mesma forma, foi confirmada a presença de uma EER estatisticamente significativa nas nomeações dos jogadores para as equipes (primeiro, segundo e terceiro tenista da equipe), com tamanhos de efeito w que variaram entre níveis moderado e alto. Esse padrão também se manteve nos quatro grupos de desempenho analisados ​​(1º-4º, 5º-8º, 9º-12º, 13º-16º). Finalmente, ao comparar a EER entre os tenistas juniores e os principais jogadores seniores do mundo, foram identificadas diferenças estatisticamente significativas, com um tamanho de efeito w de pequena magnitude.
