Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se, em crianças de 10 anos praticantes de atletismo, um maior número de anos de prática desta modalidade corresponderia a maiores valores de competência motora (CM), determinados pelo Quociente Motor (CM). ) no teste KTK (Körperkoordenationtest Für Kinder). Foi realizado um estudo transversal e descritivo num clube de atletismo de Portugal. Foram avaliadas 32 crianças, sendo 15 do sexo feminino (10,4±0,25 anos, 2,5±0,92 anos de prática) e 17 do sexo masculino (10,4±0,22 anos, 2,2±1,1 anos de prática). Embora não tenham sido encontradas diferenças significativas entre os meninos com um ou dois anos de prática de atletismo e os meninos com três ou quatro, foi encontrada uma correlação positiva moderada entre o tempo de prática (TP) e a CM nas meninas (ρ= 0,543, p=0,036). Os resultados médios do MC foram consideravelmente mais elevados (em ambos os sexos) do que é geralmente relatado pelos estudos. Por último, não houve diferenças significativas na CM de meninos e meninas. Os presentes resultados permitem-nos especular que o atletismo pode ter contribuído para preencher algumas lacunas na coordenação motora tão frequentemente observadas nas raparigas, e o tempo de prática pode ter sido especialmente benéfico para este grupo. Sugere-se um estudo longitudinal para, ao invés de confirmar a associação detectada, verificar o que acontece com a CM de meninos e meninas ao longo dos anos de prática do atletismo.
