Foco de atenção consciente e habilidades esportivas. Análise das principais linhas de pesquisa experimental

O trabalho gira em torno da seguinte questão dentro das áreas da psicologia e da filosofia do esporte. Quando um atleta está em plena ação, é benéfico para ele focar conscientemente na execução de suas habilidades ou é melhor executá-las inconscientemente? Esta questão tem gerado alguma controvérsia na área, com a filósofa Barbara Montero a defender uma posição fortemente inclinada para o processamento consciente. Para tentar esclarecer a polêmica, analisamos os resultados das duas principais linhas de pesquisa experimental sobre o tema, uma liderada por Sian Beilock e outra por Gabriele Wulf. Em cada caso, apresentamos e analisamos as críticas metodológicas que Montero faz a estes paradigmas experimentais. Assim, seguindo uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizamos uma metodologia interpretativa para analisar os argumentos e evidências experimentais na área. Da nossa análise, procuramos extrair conselhos práticos sobre quais focos de atenção parecem ser benéficos (e quais não são) para o desempenho desportivo.
