Comparação entre WNBA e WEL: diferenças e indicadores de desempenho nas principais ligas de basquetebol feminino

Resumo

Introdução: Este estudo focou-se na comparação do desempenho entre a WNBA e a Euroliga Feminina, identificando variáveis-chave para otimizar estratégias-chave no basquetebol feminino.
Objectivo: Estabelecer uma comparação entre a Associação Nacional de Basquetebol Feminino (WNBA) e a EuroLiga Feminina (WEL) nas diferentes fases da época (época regular e playoffs). Além disso, obtenha as principais variáveis ​​de diferenciação entre estas competições e as “melhores equipas” (as que foram classificadas para o playoff) de cada liga.
Metodologia: foram recolhidos os dados da época 2018/2019 na WNBA e 2019 na WEL, recolhidos a partir de estatísticas oficiais. Através da Análise Discriminante foram obtidas as variáveis ​​​​mais relevantes relacionadas com a vitória na época regular.
Resultados: Foram observadas diferenças de jogo entre as duas competições (em 12 das 19 variáveis ​​durante a época regular; e em 10 na amostra dos playoffs). Os resultados mostraram diferenças entre o número de posses de bola, de bloqueios e de pontos entre as ligas.
Discussão: A comparação entre as melhores equipas mostrou diferenças nos pontos, no total de ressaltos e nos ressaltos defensivos. Apenas as equipas da WNBA tiveram uma percentagem de sucesso de 3 pontos superior.
Conclusões: Os resultados deste inquérito podem ser considerados informação valiosa para os treinadores destas ligas desenvolverem estratégias de jogo adequadas considerando a importância de cada variável na obtenção da vitória. Assim, este trabalho poderá contribuir com novas informações relacionadas com o basquetebol feminino para o estudo do desempenho, devido à inexistência de investigação específica nesta área.
