Aulas de Educação Física com diferentes durações e o seu contributo para as Recomendações de Atividade Física Diária dos Adolescentes do Porto, Portugal

Resumo

Objetivo: Para muitos adolescentes, as aulas de educação física (EF) proporcionam a oportunidade mais relevante de participação em atividade física (AF). Embora as evidências sugiram baixos níveis de AF no EF, poucos estudos concentraram suas pesquisas na contribuição da AF realizada durante o EF para a AF diária. Portanto, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar os níveis de AF de adolescentes do Porto, Portugal, durante o horário escolar diário, quando frequentavam EF (EF) com duração de 45 minutos (PE45), EF com duração de 90 minutos (PE90) , dias letivos sem EF (NEF) e dias de final de semana (FD). Métodos: Este estudo foi realizado em quatro escolas públicas portuguesas com 441 alunos (253 raparigas) voluntários, com idades compreendidas entre os 10 e os 18 anos (14,31 ± 2,70). A AF foi avaliada por meio de um acelerômetro Actigraph durante sete dias consecutivos. Modelos gerais independentes lineares e de medidas repetidas foram utilizados para avaliar diferenças entre AF de acordo com NEF, PE45, PE90 e FD. A regressão logística foi utilizada para investigar a contribuição da EF para a adesão dos adolescentes às recomendações diárias de AF. Resultados: A PE45 contribui, em média, com 16,9% da AF diária de AFMV (atividade física moderada a vigorosa) e a PE90 representou 32,2%. Todos os estudantes participaram mais de AFMV no EF do que no NEF ou FD (p<0,05). As aulas de EF foram associadas a uma maior probabilidade de cumprir os 60 minutos diários recomendados de AFMV (OR = 2,66, IC 95% = 2,01-3,53). Conclusão: Este estudo sugere que o EF aumentou os níveis diários de AFMV e desempenhou um papel considerável no fornecimento de AF para atender às diretrizes de AF.
