Como é que o confinamento durante a pandemia de COVID-19 afetou o exercício? O caso de Espanha

Resumo

Este trabalho analisa os efeitos do confinamento no exercício físico da população, com o objetivo de responder a três questões: Em que medida os padrões de exercício durante o confinamento foram diferentes dos habituais? No caso das pessoas que praticaram exercício físico, que variáveis ​​explicam a diferença entre a frequência do exercício durante o confinamento e a sua frequência habitual? E, por último, que fatores explicam as alterações nos hábitos de exercício após o confinamento das pessoas ativas durante este período? Para responder a estas questões, foram estimados logits binários de participação e logits ordenados para analisar a frequência e as mudanças nos hábitos de exercício. A análise empírica recorre ao Inquérito aos Hábitos Desportivos de 2020. A amostra é constituída por 5.154 observações, das quais 3.060 praticaram exercício pelo menos uma vez por mês (59,4%) e 2.178 praticaram exercício durante o confinamento (42,3%) . Os resultados indicam que alguns determinantes da probabilidade e frequência do exercício perderam significância durante o confinamento. Além disso, as mulheres e as pessoas com um nível de escolaridade mais elevado aumentaram a frequência da prática durante o confinamento, em comparação com a sua prática habitual, e as mulheres activas durante o confinamento reduziram a sua prática quando as restrições foram relaxadas. Por conseguinte, os decisores de políticas públicas devem concentrar a sua atenção nos homens e nas pessoas com níveis educacionais mais baixos, em caso de futuras restrições de mobilidade.
