“Poderíamos realizar muito mais se tivéssemos treinamento específico para meninas” – Impactos da encarnação da tradição para mulheres do karatê de alto nível

Apesar das várias lutas para alcançar a igualdade na sociedade, uma luta abraçada principalmente pelos movimentos feministas, as mulheres continuam a ser vistas, visadas e tratadas como outras no desporto. As mulheres que praticam artes marciais e desportos de combate alteram em certa medida a ordem normativa social e desportiva. Mas para permanecerem em ambientes onde a sua presença é desafiadora, eles também são confrontados com as suas ações disruptivas. Acabam por incorporar a dinâmica interna dos dojos, adaptando e muitas vezes reproduzindo os ensinamentos tradicionais que disciplinam os praticantes. Não basta ser igual. Alguns atletas que conseguem refletir e criticar as suas experiências podem iniciar um movimento para se manifestarem e defenderem a equidade em vez de, ou em combinação com, a igualdade. Realizamos um estudo com a seleção feminina espanhola em preparação para participar dos únicos, até o momento, Jogos Olímpicos em que o caratê foi incluído, Tóquio 2020 (2021), buscando compreender como elas lidaram subjetivamente com as questões sobrepostas que compõem o caratê. Neste artigo, centramo-nos na incorporação de género que os atletas de alto nível fazem da chamada tradição na sua prática de karaté e como reproduzem ou se opõem a essa tradição. Sua possível resistência se configura como uma demanda pela transformação do meio ambiente por meio da equidade e do respeito às características pessoais e como lutadores, porém o processo é desafiador. Podem reproduzir e continuar o fluxo da tradição; enfrentar confusão pessoal ao tentar compreender as contradições de resistir à dominação e simplesmente permanecer no time ou como karateca; Podem até ser questionadas por serem consideradas traidoras e entrarem em conflito com posições feministas; e ainda assim, alguns parecem iniciar um movimento de nova ruptura interna, chamando a atenção para o facto de as mulheres continuarem a ser ignoradas, e ao mesmo tempo exigindo que haja mais mulheres no desporto, demonstrando que a mudança não foi suficientemente concretizada.
