Nível de atividade física em pré-escolares e escolares chilenos durante a pandemia de covid-19.

Resumo

O estabelecimento de quarentenas e a suspensão das aulas como resultado da pandemia da COVID-19 limitaram severamente as oportunidades para crianças em idade pré-escolar e escolares permanecerem fisicamente activas. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi descrever e comparar o nível de atividade física autorreferida em pré-escolares e escolares chilenos durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Foram recrutados 551 meninos (22,5%) e meninas (77,5%) residentes das macrozonas norte, centro e sul do Chile, pertencentes aos níveis escolares de transição menor e maior, e ao primeiro ciclo escolar. Foi aplicado o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ). Os níveis de atividade física autorreferidos foram 33,9%, 32,5% e 33,6% para as categorias baixa, média e alta, respectivamente. Foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas (teste exato de Fisher = 22,362; p= 0,004) no nível de atividade física de acordo com a idade da mãe. O nível de atividade física autorrelatada em pré-escolares e escolares chilenos durante a pandemia de COVID-19 foi insuficiente. O papel e a idade da mãe são fundamentais na modulação do nível de atividade física realizada pelos seus filhos e é necessário investigar esta relação, mãe-filho, na procura de estratégias e intervenções eficazes e eficientes que permitam promover a prática regular de atividade física nesta faixa etária.
