The goal of this study was to investigate the influence of the pandemic on Brazilian adults’ physical activity behavior. The research was conducted through an online questionnaire with 181 participants, most of whom were women, single, with a mean age of 36.0 ± 9.9 years, with incomplete higher education, and with family income of 1 to 3 minimum wages. Although there was a 15.0% drop in the number of sufficiently active people (physical activity ≥150 minutes/week) during the pandemic, where the difference in the proportion of active people before and during the pandemic were statistically significant, a larger portion of the sample reported maintaining active behavior during the pandemic. Physical-sports most common activities were walking, running, and weight training, both before and during the pandemic context. Safety conditions were indicated as the biggest barrier to maintaining physical activity during the pandemic. The study concluded that the physical activity practice of Brazilian adults was influenced by covid-19. Regarding its occurrence, the type of physical-sports activities performed, and the difficulties encountered for engagement.
Keywords: Exercise, Sedentary Behavior, Social Change, Pandemic, Covid-19.
