Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze scientific studies that identify the fundamental requirements for sporting excellence in the elite sport of Goalball. With regard to the methodology used, a systematic literature review was carried out using the PRISMA guidelines. The search culminated in the inclusion of 22 articles that studied the selected factors and met the inclusion criteria. The main evidence was that the profile of excellent athletes is complex and multidimensional, highlighting different areas and skills for success to be achieved, such as anthropometric aspects (height, wingspan, somatotype), physical skills (speed, strength - especially of the upper limbs), technical-tactical parameters (power/direction of the shot, height of the defense) and psychological characteristics (motivation, dialogue). The possibility of various athlete profiles according to the specificity of their position on the pitch, their visual acuity and their ability to fulfil certain functions in the game is noteworthy.
