This article aims to establish adjustments to the talent selection system for the speed category in the admission and retention of athletes aged 12-13 years at the Schools of Sports Initiation (EIDE). Employing an exploratory case study method, a population census of 31 sports professionals with over ten years of experience in training athletes aged 12-15 years was selected. Subsequently, the determination of indicators for admitting male athletes aged 12-13 was conducted. The findings highlighted the importance of incorporating additional dimensions that assess physical motor skills, biomechanical, morphological, technical, and psychosocial factors. The study concludes that improving talent selection processes is crucial, as both internal and external stimuli significantly influence the selection outcomes. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate athletes across multiple dimensions to ensure their comprehensive development and optimal performance in their sporting activities.
Keywords: Athletics, talent selection, sport, sport innovations.
