Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is growing rapidly in its popularity, so we believe that studies of this type should be undertaken to facilitate health promotion and prevention. The aim of the study was to find the incidences of injuries among the professionals of this sport in order to help in its professionalization. For this purpose, a descriptive epidemiological study was conducted. A retrospective questionnaire was elaborated for elite athletes. 105 participants were recruited in the study, 64.8% (68) if they had suffered an injury, where the predominant mechanism of injury was the resistance of the paddle in the water, and the most common type of injury were those of tendinous muscular character. It was observed that most of the injuries occurred during training. Of the 68 injured athletes, 66.2% (45) were men. Due to the mechanism of injury and the type of injury, we believe that greater emphasis should be placed on paddle technique and fatigue management to avoid muscular compensations that could lead to injury. Most of the injuries occurred during training sessions, which suggests that there aren´t enough prevention plans in place in the sport.
