The first three minutes of the Spanish Journal of Sociology (RES)
Keywords:
Scientific communities, sociology, sociology journals, peer review, particularismAbstract
In this remark the first director of the Spanish Journal of Sociology (RES) makes an account of the foundation and the first ten years of the journal. In reply to the essay on “editorial policy for sociology journals”, published previously in this issue, the importance for the scientific work of both acknowledgement and anonymous peer review is highlighted. However, for understanding the rationale of the journals it is necessary to take into account that social processes are fully present in the “republic of science”. Sometimes particularistic phenomena and accumulation of inequalities arise, especially when scientists try to maximize the opportunities for their careers in opposition to other colleagues’ careers.Downloads
