Communication and poetic language. The case of Gadamer
Keywords:
functions of language, linguistic communication, poetic language, literary communication, GadamerAbstract
A specific line of research that proposes the contribution to categorical construction of the theory of communication —a field of work in which we have focused for a long time (Paz, Enzensberger, Arendt)—, centres its reflections on poetry as means of communication. The origin for such theory derives from a first level of assessment: the communicative and poetic functions of language (Bühler, Sapir, Mounin, Martinet, Benveniste, Jakobson) and the presence of all literary languages, «when linguistic expression achieves an extraordinary significance» (Sapir). A second step considers poetic language, since «poetry is communication, specifically established with new words and owning knowledge of very special nature» (Bousoño). The analysis is followed by the evaluation of several contributions to communication derived from works signed by Gadamer with regards to an excellent poetic production (Hölderlin, Rilke, George, Celan). Other elements additionally represented and reviewed in this work, always considering the perspective of poetic creation, are aesthetic and communication, signs, metaphors and messages, word and dialogue, representation, speech and reconstruction, moment and memory, etc.Published
