The Fondota tracksite (Abiego, Huesca) is one of the paleontological sites with more vertebrate ichnite fossils in the Ebro Basin. They present a great variety in the quality of morphological preservation (MP), so it is essential to know the sedimentological conditions under which it was generated. The tracksite is located in the lower part of the Peraltilla Formation (Early Oligocene) and is situated on the top of a grey massive limestone level with indications of shallow conditions and subaerial exposure (nodulization, stromatolite lamination…). This limestone level represents a palustrine area developed over channel deposits in an alluvial distal setting. In that situation the ichnites were originated under different conditions with variations in humidity and water content in the substrate. These conditions had a direct influence in the low or high values of MP, and thus in the presence/absence of anatomical details.
