El peso de las ideas: la ideología jacksoniana en la política exterior de DonaldTrump

La reelección de Donald Trump en 2025 reaviva interrogantes sobre el rumbo que tomará la política exterior estadounidense. Este artículo parte de la premisa de que las creencias de los líderes son relevantes para entender la política exterior de los estados. Así, desgrana las principales ideologías de política exterior en Estados Unidos e identifica las dimensiones clave en torno a las que dichas ideologías se posicionan. Mediante el análisis sistemático de los discursos de Trump –realizados durante su campaña electoral y su primer mandato (2017-2021)– se concluye su adscripción a la ideología jacksoniana. Esta categorización constituye una herramienta extremadamente valiosa para comprender el papel actual de Estados Unidos como principal potencia global y su impacto en las dinámicas del sistema internacional, además de iluminar las lógicas detrás de acciones que, de otro modo, podrían parecer incoherentes.
