The present work studies the structuring of urban space.
This structuring is observed within the context of the action of specific socioeconomic processes, as part of
transformations produced within society and the particular territory of study which articulates social order
with spatial order in the historical period being here considered. Among such transformations, figure those
produced on relationship and on the process of the social reproduction of those social agents active in the
same. The spatialisation of this social reproduction relationship as within any given territory, and this
within that framework defined by socioeconomic processes, is considered by the authors here as the heart
of the question of the structuring of urban space process. The subject of this study is one of the most extensive
metropolitan areas in the world, namely the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (BAMA). The shaping of urban
space is examined in the region during two periods in which there took place a variety of socioeconomic
processes, these being the Import-Substituting Industrialization period and the decade of transformations
that began in the 80s of the last century. The results of this study are organized in terms of a caracterizing
by means of a fresh spatial map, traced out upon RMBA territorial fact of this region of the world and this
within its historical peculiarity.
