Introducing the new editor-in-chief of the journal

Dear readers, authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial boards,

I am delighted to address you for the first time as the new editor-in-chief of our journal Anales del Sistema Sanitario de Navarra, at the beginning of 2026, to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your ongoing commitment to scientific and editorial excellence.

Our journal, recognized and indexed in the main bibliographic databases, including PubMed, has consolidated its position as a rigorous space for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, promoting high-quality, ethically responsible research with a real impact on clinical practice and public health. This achievement is the result of the joint efforts of our authors, the critical and faithful reading of our readers, and the tireless dedication of editors and reviewers.

The coming year will continue to bring the challenges and opportunities inherent in a constantly evolving scientific environment. The exponential growth of scientific journals and the competition to attract and publish manuscripts, together with the pressure exerted by academic authorities on professionals to publish in journals with the highest impact factors, create a scenario that stimulates scientific rigor and quality but can also entail risks inherent in less rigorous review systems designed to reduce time and facilitate publication.  

Our journal renews its commitment to the highest standards of peer review, editorial transparency, innovation, and international visibility, with the aim of continuing to contribute to the advancement of knowledge that significantly contributes to improving the health of the population.
