This paper analyzes cooperative and popular sport experiences as examples of the potentialities and dilemmas that the common pool resources organization faces in contemporary societies. The research is based on a series of case studies, mostly located in the metropolitan area of Madrid. The study shows the institutional strategies developed by the people involved in collaborative sportive relationships in order to resolve conflicts related to the involvement of the participants, the supervision and punishment of the free-riders, the different experiences of competitiveness or the recruitment and training systems.
