Abstract

Whereas Latin-American immigrant women and local spaces are connected in everyday activities in Bilbao, this article has a central focus on how local environment perceives Latin-American women and how these women embrace that perception. For all of this, we used the main results of a qualitative research carried out between March and July 2012 in Bilbao. In that research, we combined direct observation of Latin-American women and their presence in 5 different urban spaces in Bilbao; in addiction to the direct observation we led 25 in-depth interviews with Latin-American women living in Bilbao. After make clear the presence —multiple and diverse— of Latin American women in local spaces in Bilbao, we think a critical and dialectical thought about that composite link and contribute useful elements to re-create other mechanisms and collective strategies in order to promote a hugest presence of these women, and for the whole society, en Bilbao.
