The impact of ICT on family change in Spain

Abstract

Current societies are present at the impact of new Technologies of Information and Communication (TIC) revolution in all spheres of daily life. Traditionally there has been studied the impact of these technologies emphasizing the multiple uses of these tools more than the repercussions that produce. This paper analyzes TIC impact on familiar sphere, centring on three key aspects: market of partner, new risks that happen in socialization process, and effects on familiar networks. With this intention principal classic hypotheses are checked and there are in use sources of secondary information from CIS. Results indicate the importance of these technologies in access to market of partner in the youngest males; the conscience that both parents have of new risks for the familiar privacy, in spite of managing them of different form; and how his effects help to complete socialites of face-toface networks.

Luis Ayuso, Universidad de Málaga

Profesor contratado doctor de Sociología en la Universidad de Málaga. Ha realizado estancias de investigación en las universidades de La Sorbona (París V) y Princeton. Sus lí- neas de investigación se centran en la sociología de la familia, donde tiene sus principales investigaciones y contribuciones científicas. Sus artículos y trabajos de investigación han sido publicados en algunas de las editoriales más prestigiosas del área (REIS, RIS, Papers, CIS, GAPP, SM, Tecnos, etc.). Actualmente es director del Curso de Posgrado de Formación de Especialistas en Investigación Social Aplicada y Análisis de Datos (CIS).
