Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the social code for the management of behaviour and emotions settled by the self-help books published in Spain during the 60th’s and 70th’s under the francoist regime. First of all, the main characteristics of these texts are going to be defined, as to subsequently evaluate their precepts and major arguments. Finally, and following a neo-foucouldian approach, this social code will be interpreted as an expression of a liberal political rationality which coexists along with an authoritarian political one.
