For the author, present day urban spatial growth calls for marrying this to environmental balance by means
of adequate planning as to siting and the contol of the activities upon ground barred from building use as
within an overall view of the territory as a whole. The paper takes the opportune siting of new low density
housing areas within the Henares Corridor (Guadalajara Province) as its referent as to this question, and
then examines the issue by drawing up a model that fixes the area’s in-take capacity for activity along with
the imacpt that any such would hasve on the environment to thus ascertain the greater or lesser fitness of
the territory at stake for the activity proposed for it which here would be city growth. For the author, present
day, prest dayfor as a case in point, in the study area, it has been seen that the centre of the “Corredor del
Henares” shows suitable capacity values while its impact off-set is critical, whereas the high capacity apt
areas are to be found in the “Campiña” and the urban ground of the the Henares’ terraces.
