Nature provides numerous services that are often ignored in territorial planning. However, the state of conservation of habitats and species in our country is insufficient to ensure their long-term functioning. The concept of Green Infrastructure has gained relevance as a planning tool for natural, rural and urban areas. The Spanish National Strategy for Green Infrastructure and Connectivity and Ecological Restoration is the document that regulates its development in Spain. To standardize the selection of Green Infrastructure components and avoid environmental or spatial inconsistencies, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has developed the Methodological Guide for the identification of Green Infrastructure elements in Spain, which offers practical and common methodologies for identifying Green Infrastructure elements.
