The unequal expansion of Latin American metropolises is investigated in an integral, interscalar and multidimensional way through the study of popular peripheralization within La Matanza (RMBA). Methodologically, geo-demographic and socio-anthropological perspectives are articulated. At the municipal level, a strong social polarization is recognized in which the peripheries show the most unfavorable conditions. The microspatial review, approached from three dimensions -geodemographic, physical and the space experience-, points out heterogeneities in the growth pace and evidences the relevance of residential experiences and trajectories in its becoming. The immaterial feature of the popular peripheries and the role of local voices are central in the interscalar dialogue to deepen the analysis of these spaces that tend to be homogenized and dehistoricized.
