Endogenous Structural Changes in the Spanish Rural Zones: This in the Jaén Urban Region
Keywords:
Desarrollo socioeconómico, cambio social, medio rural, dinámica espacial, JaénAbstract
The paper speaks of how Spanish rural districts have undergone much change in their productive
structure of how this has given rise to a greater diversification in their local economy. Analysis is here
made of the structural evolution of the urban region/ urban catchment area of Jaén and it is argued that
such change there is of an endogenous character and that it has been. It has been much helped
encouraged by a greater diffusion of know-how as it has been by greater flexibility in production and
administration and the territorial urbanization. As consequence of all this, the system of cities is here
said to compete on terms of the capacity of each local productive chain to face the global environment and
in keeping with rules as to organisation and territorial relationship rules that are, in themselves, in
permanents evolution.
