Abstract

Nosocomial infection poses a growing challenge in neonatology, given that there is an increasing tendency to attend to children of greater immaturity and technological procedures are used that are a potential entrance point for micro-organisms. Based on a review and analysis of the existing data in the Neonatal Unit of the Virgen del Camino Hospital, as well as the differential epidemiological aspects at the perinatal age, details are given of the activities to be carried out for the prevention, diagnosis and control of nosocomial infection in neonatology.
