Abstract

This paper draws attention to the relationship of psychological aspects and the appearance and evolution of cancer. The incidence of the disease would be considerably reduced if there was an increase in healthy behaviour life-styles. Different studies conclude that stress affects the immunological system and consequently cancer. Similarly, the influence of personality on the evolution of the disease is discussed. Research is being done on psychological therapies and increased survival. Caution must be exercised so as not to place excessive demands and responsibility on the patient, with the difficulties that might be created for his adaptation to the disease.
