The United Kingdom and Germany are two destinations of the recent Spanish emigration that began to grow in 2008. The approaches to address it, both from the research and even from the political and media angle or viewpoint, are diverse and not without controversy: emigration, exile, young entrepreneurs, etc. The objective of this article is to understand how the protagonists themselves conceive their migration project, within a diversity of profiles and very heterogeneous trajectories that have led them to leave for Europe. This qualitative study, carried out in the United Kingdom and Germany, provides a clearer picture of the perception of their projects and the influence of the socioeconomic situation in Spain on their migration decision-making. Specifically, the results reveal three types of perceptions about migratory identity, where activism or greater political-social sensitivity play a relevant role, and also an historical comparison with respect to the emigration in the 1960s.
