Abstract

This article intends to prove that the interaction of informatics and Latin philology goes far ahead from the simple use of ofimatic software suites. Computational linguistics may be expected to benefit from Latin Philology, which offers a whole closed corpus. Not so many things are to be expected from Computational linguistics apart from empirical data for a better understanding of some punctual issues. The collaborative work techniques are no doubt the most promising area insofar their adoption would become a turning point in the traditional methodology of our studies. Close to the idea of collaboration is that other of networking, with Internet as a paradigm. Another aspect to be considered is the use of software for daily teaching. The last part of the paper is some kind of proposal of future developments combining both informatics and Latin Philology.
