Abstract

This paper demonstrates the existence of an acrostic poem with the Angelica salutatio in the composition entitled Ad Dominam. Ode VII of Odae in diuae Dei genitricis Mariae laudes brought to light by Rodrigo Fernández de Santaella in Jacob Cromberger’s Seville press in 1504. The research discovered that part of the acrostic poem was published by mistake at the end of the composition following the aforementioned, and that the acrostic poem is unfinished and possibly incomplete. All this proves that Santaella was not the author, but the “compiler” -as he called himself along the text- of the Marian libellus. The study finally reveals several crucial data to identify the true author.
