What the magnetic information in sedimentary and igneous rocks tell us about the kinematics of the Pyrenean Axial Zone?

Paleomagnetic information is presented of the Devonian rocks of the Axial Zone in its western part (Aspe valley) and central part (around Laspaúles and Orri Dome), as well as Permian igneous rocks from the Anayet Massif, Triassic ophites and Mesozoic peridotites near the North Pyrenean Fault, and Upper Cretaceous rocks just South of the North Pyrenean Fault. Results suggest remagnetizations in the Devonian rocks. Samples in the basaltic sills of Anayet suggest the presence of a post-magnetization tilting because the paleomagnetic inclination is larger than expected. The results from ophites are quite homogeneous and show a paleomagnetic direction similar to the postfolding remagnetization described previously in the Internal Sierras. However, peridotites show a variable magnetization with different paleomagnetic directions. These results open local reconstructions of bedding at the time of remagnetization, when it is isochcronous.
