De los imames a los nuevos predicadores: liderazgos en la interpretación del islam en Europa

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el emplazamiento o locus de la autoridad religiosa, el cual ha cambiado llevando a un aumento del número de voces musulmanas que reclaman su espacio de participación crítica o intelectual y, con ello, a cierta rivalidad por la autoridad religiosa y social. Si bien quienes han competido por la autoridad religiosa han sido sobre todo hombres, las mujeres –contrariamente a la opinión preponderante– no han estado del todo excluidas. Por tanto, podemos afirmar que las mujeres, aunque solo hasta cierto punto, también participan en esta competición por la autoridad. En definitiva, cada vez son más los nuevos líderes sociales, políticos y religiosos musulmanes que propugnan una serie de causas con el fin de satisfacer la sofisticada demanda de la comunidad musulmana individualizada.
