This paper describes the typology of blocks for decorative initials used by the printer Arnao Guillén de Brocar in their workshops sited in Logroño and Alcalá de Henares, as well as the chronology of appearance. Likewise, we show how important they are to know the specific workshops involve in the edition of Istorias de la diuinal vitoria y nueua adquisicion de la muy insigne cibdad de Oran hecha por... el señor don Francisco ximenez cardenal de españa arçobispo de toledo..., by Martín Herrera, which is traditionally assigned to Logroño; and the edition of the Oratio of ambassador Fernando Tello to pope Julius II, traditionally assigned to Rome; as well as their usefulness for dating, like the case of the primitive Complutensian sine notis editions of the Liber differentiarum veteris testamenti... by Nicolaus de Lyra.
