Selection of educational centers for work experience placements according to the profile of the ULE student

The training of future teachers, whether in Early Childhood Education or Primary Education, requires a period of in-person practical training at centres recognised as training centres. The educational centres where these placements can be carried out have their own characteristics depending on whether they are Early Childhood and Primary Education Centres (CEIP), Compulsory Education Centres (CEO), Subsidised Centres (CC), Private Schools (CPr) or Rural School Groups (CRA), as well as being located in very different areas. The aim of this study is to identify the factors that relate the characteristics of the students to the type of centre chosen, in order to obtain a preliminary list of schools in line with the characteristics of the student body and their evolution over time. To this end, 3021 teaching placements made at the Faculty of Education of the ULE between the 2016-2017 and 2024-2025 academic years are analysed, using data on both the chosen school (mainly type and location) and the students who choose them (gender, age, academic year, entrance exam score, average academic record at the time of choosing the school, family address, address during the academic year, etc.). The results show that students with higher grades prefer to do their teaching practice in CEIPs and do not choose the type of school based on its distance from their usual place of residence
