Abstract

This article provides a chronological summary of the most important works of Milton Friedman translated into Spanish and published in Spain in the two decades between 1956 and 1976, and discusses how the ideas contained in these works influenced economic policies, especially monetary policy, in the Stabilization Plan of 1959 and the Moncloa Agreements of 1977. We distinguish three kinds of publications: articles included in economic journals, such as Revista de Economía Política and Información Comercial Española; and books and collaborations in books, such as Capitalism and Freedom and Essays in Positive Economics. Finally the spread of Friedman's ideas through university manuals is described.
