Keywords:

The article undertakes a specific reflection that weaves his plot in the historic field of certain
building typologies that transcended urban scopes. Despite being a story that delves into the past,
this is brought forward to claim their full validity. The analysis of of Alfredo Baeschlin later work,
Spanish cottages, is done through the relevant social historical context in which it was published
and where, given the need for an architectural identity and the desire to stand at the same cultural
level than other Central European countries, the society sidestepped some of their own cultural
aspects. Inherent aspects of vernacular architecture that some travelers as Baeschlin, through their
stories attached to a keen touring activity, did not hesitate to praise yet to understand its adaptation
to the passing of time.
