The Department of Territorial Policies and Public Works of the Government of Catalonia has tried the
methodology for strategic environmental assessment of Alt Pirineu i Aran territorial plan according to
directive 2201/42/CE. The assessment process begins with an scoping that determines the relevant issues
for the environment on which the territorial plan may have influence, the assessment methodology and the
actors that take part in the process. Afterwards, a synthetic diagnosis of the relevant environmental aspects
of the territory and the evolution of environmental parameters without plan is made, and the environmental
objectives to achieve are settled. The assessment is made at different levels: the territorial management
strategy is assessed as well as the environmental objectives, one by one. The benefits and environmental
impacts of the territorial plan, the follow up parameters, measures and recommendations to implement are
summarised.
