Abstract: Pedro de Valcárcel, poet who appears at the end of the Cancionero de San Román (MH1), was connected with the archdeacon of Toro (who calls him cousin). We have a canción of love in Galician and a satirical pregunta in Castillian, incomplete and without its respuesta, addressed to Galician Gonzalo López de Goyanes. I have identi ed him as a member of the lineage of the Rodríguez de Varcárcel y Valboa family, the son of señor de As Pontes de García Rodríguez and the grandson of the adelantado (governor) of Galicia García Rodríguez (also related to the Andrade family). Like his relatives, he was linked to the monastery of Carracedo and died shortly before 1398.
