The use of the deictic for the days of the week as it appears in modern languages is not a linguistic recourse of classical latin, but rather its presence is related to the difussion of Christian cultual practice. Its implementation results from a process of double substitution from which conditionals and causes are explained by means of examples taken from the Vulgate, Egeria and Isidore of Seville.
