Abstract

The article analyses the three quotations (Quint., inst. 9, 2, 42; 9, 2, 98 and Suet., uita Verg. 29) that the editions of Seneca the Elder use as indirect evidence for the Controversies, and presents arguments to discuss the alleged relation between these passages and Seneca the Elder’s rhetorical work.
