Syntax at the service of rhetoric: a testimony of the Visigoth era

In an ecclesiastical legal text (Canon 1 in Third Toledo Council), apparently prosaic, like most of them, underlies a milimetricly worked out syntactic arrangement —with a perfect balance between form and content— as a reply of Church Hierarchy to Recaredo’s intentions. Further figures of speech provide the text with a highly ornamental level.
