Wrongly claimed its authorship to Arnald of Villanova, the opuscule Remedia contra maleficia is actually a treatise consisting of one chapter from the Pantegni’s Practica, translation done by Constantin the African from the ‘Ali ibn ‘Al-Abbas’ work, and several recipes from the Petrus Hispano’s Thesaurus pauperum. This study contains the manuscript tradition of that opuscule according to the remaining manuscritps, its composition process, as well as an overview of its distinctive characteristics, since it is a key text in the research of the curses related to infertility.
