Abstract

The present paper aims at tracking back the origins of an emendation of Menaechmi  65, which was suggested for the «first» time by Bernardinus Saracenus in 1499 and that corrects the reading transmitted by the manuscript tradition. Such an emendation could find good support in a passage by Venantius Fortunatus, whose contribution could shed some light on a different textual transmission of Plautus’ work.
