This paper contains the edition and Spanish translation of the first Latin description of the city of Santa Fe (currently Bogotá), in the New Kingdom of Granada, written in 1629 by the creole humanist Fernando Fernández de Valenzuela at the age of twelve. The Descriptio is part of the proemium of the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae, a compendium of grammar composed by the same author and preserved in a manuscript from the National Library of Colombia (ms.
