Two aquifers have been studied, the coastal plain of Cabo de Gata and the Andarax river delta, on the Almeria coast. The apparent age of its waters has been determined, which has made it possible to differentiate four water bodies in each of these aquifers: freshwater, interface, seawater and paleoseawater. The fresh and marine water bodies have been dated as recent, registering the paleoseawater values around 10 ka. The interface shows an intermediate age. In the plain of Cabo de Gata, the paleowater has a salinity higher than seawater, while in the Andarax delta the salinity is identical to current seawater. The contrast of densities between the different water bodies conditions the geometry and the level of advance of these bodies in the aquifer. Paleogeographic evolution has played an important role in the current configuration of these aquifers.
