In this work we study the conceptions of future teachers of Primary Education about local heritage. A total of 159 students participated and the 31 itineraries they designed through different towns in Biscay were analyzed, categorizing the heritage elements they included in them. The results suggest that the main conceptualization of heritage involves tangible elements related to the historical-artistic typology and to the temporal perspective, which are recognized mainly locally. It is concluded that, by introducing local heritage in initial teacher training programs, a more diversified view of it is encouraged, highlighting its value for teaching history and for shaping one's own identity.
